                            <sub>Koi was born to, at first, happy parents, Lilith and Amethyst. While both were female, she did not know her true father, and both mothers refused to tell her or even speak of him for the small amount of time she was with them. Lilith and Amethyst were a happy couple, before the birth of their kits. They lived outside the twoleg territories, near the river and careful of any other cats or twolegs to find them. However, this seemed to come to a halt as Lilith found she was pregnant. Upon Amethyst finding out of her mate's pregnancy, she was at first careful and accepting of Lilith's mistake. What the blue she-cat did not know was that Lilith's "mistake" was continuing. So, when a young, pretty tom named Owl came to their encampment, Lilith was horrified, and Amethyst was utterly confused at the tom's words. Out of rage and grief, Amethyst attacked Owl viciously, the battle ending in the tom's death, Lilith's horror, and Amethyst's anger. When Amethyst turned on Lilith, the cat was careful to beg for forgiveness, evidently not trusting her mate's sanity. However, Amethyst was simply hurt by this, asking her mate not only why she thought she was such an evil cat, but also why she would take another mate without her permission. At that point, the cats' relationship was broken, not to be repaired, and only to be broken further.

      
                            Upon the birth of Lilith's kits, Amethyst was upset further. Not only was one stillborn, but one was sickly, and one was a runt. The only one born "perfect" was a tiny, cinnamon calico, near identical to Lilith. The thing that upset Amethyst was simply that Lilith refused to put the sickly and runt kit out of their misery, as they weren't likely to survive anyway. While the disabilities from the litter hurt Amethyst and Lilith, Amethyst was a religious cat, seeming to believe in something, somewhere that cats went when they past, and that the cats of the sky got angry when something was wrong, and often struck down trees or cats to prove that it was wrong. This was why she believed that the stillborn, sickly, and runt kits were born -- a sign from her "sky cats". The old cat was upset, but Lilith refused to believe her, and only told her mate that it was chance that the kits were hurt, and it was chance and pure emotion that brought her and Owl together. Lashing out once more, Amethyst waited for her mate to sleep before taking the three surviving kits, including the perfect "Koi" to a border she knew of. Upon finding a patrol, she gave the kits over, and gave them each names: Koi, Minnow, and Carp, named for the fish Amethyst and Lilith saw in the river near their home...</sub>

Koi: I don't know if I want to know what happened to my dad. Or my siblings. Or any of my family. I don't know why I'm here alone.
